Let's Get Personal

Updated: Mar 2, 2020

Today we are getting personal and sharing the answers to a few questions we get asked on a regular basis. We love that our clients and people we meet are so curious about our passions, and we hope this serves as a great way to get to know us a little better.

Why interior design?

I can’t remember a time that I wasn’t designing a room or house. Even as little girl I would redecorate my bedroom every other year, and not just the accessories or pictures on my walls, but every detail down to the paint color itself. I loved how simple changes in a space could evoke such different feelings and moods.

My passion for design grew as I did, and after helping family and friends decorate their homes I realized that I wanted to pursue design as a career.

I love how a collected and curated space makes you feel at peace. It gives a sense of wholeness and feels complete. My goal is to create spaces that families want to be in. A beautiful space they aren’t afraid to live in, and want to make memories in.

How do you describe your design style?

Let me start by saying, I love this question! So many times people assume that designers have one set style that suits them. And most of the time you can look at a space and tell who designed it. However, styles and trends are always changing in this industry, and each client is vastly different than the next. So what “style” may fit one client won’t fit the next. It’s a designer’s job to take what the client likes and create a well-designed room that looks beautiful and feels livable.

With that being said, each designer has an aesthetic that they are known for. Our aesthetic is a streamlined traditional feel with a touch of southern flair. Let’s break this down a little more. We prefer bright airy spaces, clean lines, lots of texture, and touches of southern accents.

What would working with an interior designer look like?

I hate to be vague, but it looks different for each client because every project is different. We are currently working on a blog post that goes into detail on why you should hire a designer, and what you need to know about it, so stay tuned for that!

Favorite paint colors?

Oh goodness… we have a list a mile long of paint colors we adore. But right now, I would say our top three paint colors are

1: Hale Navy by Benjamin Moore

2: Gossamer Veil by Sherwin Williams

3: Melted Ice Cream by Benjamin Moore

All three colors are used in my house and they are just so good!

What is your favorite type of room to design?

Right now I really enjoy designing bedrooms. I think there is something really special about falling asleep and waking up in a welcoming and comfortable space that looks beautiful.

Will you ever post a home tour of your own house?

We bought a very special house on family land a few years back and have slowly been renovating it. As we finish rooms we will be sharing them on the blog!

But lets be honest… when you design other people’s houses for a living, you’re never really “finished” with your own. Plus, we already established I like to change things every few years.

What are some random facts about you that we may find interesting?

-I tend to be more private and introverted than people may realize. I love working one-on-one or in small groups, but large crowds make me nervous.

-I am an enneagram type 1, and a Myer Briggs INFJ

-My husband is currently a Youth Pastor, and I not so secretly think God is going to use him in big ways.

- I have two kids, Landon (4) and Lennon Kate (1). Landon is obsessed with dinosaurs, and Lennon Kate is obsessed with food.

-My go-to Starbucks order is a Hazelnut Latte, and it’s also the way to my heart.

-I used to everything about chocolate, even the smell. But pregnancy can change a person… and now its not too bad!

-I am a night owl, but my husband likes to go to bed early. This pretty much means I spend hours planning and designing while I lay in bed trying to sleep. Side note: I also get by best ideas at night.

-I also own a high-end marketing and advertising publication called The Scout Guide North Georgia, and love supporting local businesses in North Georgia!

I hope these answers gave you a little more insight on who we are and what we do. If you have a question that you would like answered, leave a comment or email us and we will be happy to answer!
